Week 13 Internship Blog
Hello everyone and welcome to an
abnormal week of the internship. Week number 13 is accompanied with great
results from our Research Colloquium I was unable to be at due to outside
issues and working on final assignments.
It is to
might greatest delight that we have done a great job and that my slides and
presentation was good enough to help share the Battle of Olustee Project to the
viewers on November 17. Looking back, Dr. Gannon really helped me realize and reach
a Power Point that looked professional. Before it was way to simple and looked
like a High school Power Point and needed some readjustment. I think the
limited text, the great images of the Generals and sources that accompanied the
summarized story of the battle felt smooth and very easy to follow along
without missing any of the major points I was trying to present. It is such a
relief that our team was able to share our work and help move the mission
forward for and with Dr. Gannon. There is still much to do, until the
government realizes their mistakes and puts up a memorial, Dr. Gannon will not
stop pushing them, gaining the backing from outside sources who also would like
to see our mission succeed, through hell and high water. The only sad party
about this, even though I am not a big fan of presenting in front of real people,
is that it would have been great to present in person. Through zoom it can be
difficult to show emphases on specific points because your body language is
hidden for the most part and the words can be less impactful over internet.
Speaking
of being able to be with other people, Thanksgiving is here, and it definitely
provides a small break from the everyday grind, even if I plan on working
through it anyways. I hope everyone enjoys the time with family, amazing food,
and Football games, GO SUPER CAM, this coming week. I can’t believe it is already
two weeks left in this semester and can’t wait to see what comes next.
